The Land Of Mulch And Money

FayJacobs50x50

Spring has sprung in Rehoboth at Schnauzerhaven in Food Lion Estates. If I’d known just how much of my disposable income would go for mulch, I’d be writing from my condo overlooking the boardwalk. Before I had this house I didn’t know it was possible to go to Lowes three times in a day. My [...]

Wireless? Not From Where I’m Standing!

FayJacobs50x50

It’s a hoax. This whole business of wireless communication is one big fat lie. While the communication may be wireless, its facilitation requires enough wires, cables and plugs to gag a landfill. And of course, chargers last eons longer than the devices they power. I have souvenir chargers from every cell phone, iPod and laptop [...]

Learning To “Crawl”

FayJacobs50x50

I have now spent more money on one room in my house than on any other. And it’s not even a room. It’s the crawl space. Cue the scary music. How I came to own a home with something called a crawl space is beyond me. What am I, from the Adams Family? Just the [...]

Why Home Improvement Shows Are Like Porn

FayJacobs50x50

Home Improvement shows are like pornography. Watching them makes you do things you shouldn’t do. I’m surprised nobody showed up [...]

Naturally my spouse and I were upset, but ultimately reassured that with proper diet and medication Paddy could continue to live a normal, active doghood. As for me, I considered this just one [...]

I’m A Carboholic For Sure

FayJacobs50x50

After a fabulous weekend in New Orleans back in May I went into detox to dry out. And I’m not talking about alcohol, although I probably had more to drink those four days than was prudent. No, I’m talking about carbohydrates. For me, it’s not the demon rum, it’s the demon bun. While my pals [...]

Big Apple to Big Scrapple – Why I Love The Delaware Coast

FayJacobs50x50

I’m not a Delmarva native. Darn few of us here are. In fact, even to be considered an old-timer you have to have arrived with the Dutch or been born in a manger in a Selbyville chicken coop. So I’m an interloper. But that doesn’t mean I don’t love my Delaware coast. Of course, when [...]
